Yorktown Police responded to a domestic incident at a Yorktown residence on November 17, 2017 around 8:30 p.m. Further investigation revealed that the defendant, identified as 26-year-old Victor Ruiz of the Bronx, got involved in a verbal argument with the victim.
The victim allegedly locked herself in a bedroom, and police say Ruiz caused more than $350 worth of damage to the bedroom doors, bedroom ceiling, window, mirror and coffee pot.
Ruiz fled the scene prior to police arrival. As a result, a warrant was obtained for his arrest.
The Yorktown Police Department received notification from Bronx Central Booking that Ruiz had successfully been taken into custody on Wednesday, March 6 around 3:45 p.m.
Ruiz was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a class E felony. He was processed at the Yorktown Police Department and arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Judge Raniolo, who also issued an Order or Protection for the victim.
Ruiz was remanded to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or bond. He is scheduled to return to Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, March 11.
